Belton Theatre's Mission

Believing that theatre offers the opportunity to contemplate oneself, celebrate life, challenge and renew one’s view of the world, our mission is to
  • explore art
  • create art
  • serve through art
  • recognize excellence in art
  • enjoy, affirm and encourage each artist
We engage these ideals by participating in workshops, trips, classes, productions, and service opportunities; by appreciating and cultivating excellence in theatre; and by supporting and investing in each other, dedicating time and energy to develop each BHS artist.

Communication

Students in theatre communicate with each other while working on a production, and the ultimate goal of theatre is to communicate stories as intended to their audience.

Competition

At BHS Theatre, we strive to achieve the highest standard. We practice this goal by participating in the following competitions:
  • UIL One Act Play
  • UIL Theatrical Design
  • Texas Thespian Festival (Thespys and Texas Only Events)

Critical Thinking

Theatre utilizes critical thinking consistently and in a variety of fields such as text analysis, character analysis, building for technical theatre, and logistical plans when running a show.

Collaboration

No one person can produce theatre. Students with a variety of different skills must come together to produce an artistic work that's bigger than themselves.

Creativity

Theatre is utterly creative. Participating in theatre has students bring stories to life in a variety of mediums.
